About the Role
You are a seasoned technical writer with strong engineering and API experience, helping us to deliver world-class content for our communications platform. As a member of the Marketing and Technical Documentation team, your responsibilities include planning, developing, and maintaining product documentation to support the strategic goals of our customers and their end users with a primary emphasis on Alianza Fusion products and API-driven features. You are an outstanding writer with a solid background in the telecommunications industry, hands-on experience with software development concepts and APIs, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Engineering teams to plan, write, and deliver high-quality and accessible product documentation (including commissioning, planning, and end-user guides, API documentation, SDK references, procedures, and integration articles, etc.).
- Own the content life cycle for key product areas and use your expertise and discretion to create content that is best tailored to fit the needs of the target audience(s).
- Manage documentation structure and versioning and drive improvements to documentation processes.
- Drive review, build, and publish content to coincide with product releases.
- Gain a deep understanding of our products and services to translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
- Work closely with product, design, and engineering stakeholders and other technical writers to understand requirements, resolve queries, and ensure your content supports a clear and useful user experience.
- Integrate use cases, security requirements, functional insights, and examples into documentation to enhance user understanding including code samples where applicable.

- Manage and prioritize simultaneous content projects and adhere to documentation plans and timelines that align with regular release cycles.
Desired Skills/Qualifications
- Location: Remote-first position; applicants must reside in and be available during GMT working hours.
- Telecommunications Industry Knowledge: 6+ years of experience developing different types of technical documentation for enterprise software (SaaS experience, VoIP, and telecommunications background preferred). Experience using DITA, GitLab, source control, and versioning.
- Writing Portfolio: Including, but not limited to user guides and tutorials, software or hardware documentation, style guidelines, etc.
- Tooling Experience: Experience driving and delivering high-quality user-facing documentation through documentation tools such as Oxygen XML Author, Paligo, MadCap Flare, InDesign, or Adobe Suite.
- Technical Background: Experience with API documentation and SDK guides, including a strong understanding of API concepts and web service technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML). Familiarity with markup languages (HTML, XML, JSON), structured authoring (DITA), and code literacy (python, JavaScript, macros) for automation tasks required. Metaswitch experience strongly preferred.
- Technical Mindset: Ability to solve diverse problems, learn new skills, and assimilate complex information to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation.
- Creation and Editing: Proven ability to design and deliver content with strong copy and developmental editing skills.
