Principal Product Manager, International Expansion

Location: United Kingdom (office or remote) or other international locations

Reports To: VP, Product Management

Employment Type: Full-time

Alianza is expanding its AI-powered communications platform into international markets worldwide. This role plays a major part in shaping and executing that expansion from a product perspective: understanding and navigating the regulatory landscape across global jurisdictions, contributing to the go-to-market and compliance strategy for international product offerings, and partnering closely with Legal, the commercial team, and Engineering to evaluate, plan, and execute market entry.

The Principal PM, International Expansion operates with high autonomy and brings deep international market knowledge to the team. This role contributes significantly to defining how Alianza approaches global expansion and is expected to develop and advocate for a well-informed point of view on where and how the company should grow. This is not a role that executes against a fully defined roadmap; it helps shape one.

Key Responsibilities

International Market Knowledge and Analysis

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise across international markets relevant to Alianza's expansion priorities, including market dynamics, competitive landscape, and customer needs by region.
  • Build and sustain a regulatory intelligence framework that tracks relevant communications, AI, and data privacy regulations across target markets globally.
  • Develop working knowledge of regional carrier relationships, interconnect models, numbering administration, and licensing requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Produce and maintain market-readiness assessments for target regions, updated as conditions change.

Product and Compliance Planning

  • Partner with Legal to assess regulatory exposure and define product compliance and certification requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Translate regulatory and market requirements into actionable product specifications, working with Engineering to evaluate build, partner, and license options.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to design internationally viable product packages, pricing models, and service terms.
  • Identify gaps between current product capabilities and international market requirements; contribute to the roadmap to close those gaps.
  • Ensure AI product features comply with applicable regulations across target markets, including evolving AI governance frameworks globally.

Execution and Delivery

  • Contribute to and lead cross-functional workstreams for international product launches, coordinating across Legal, Engineering, Finance, and Go-to-Market teams.
  • Define success metrics for assigned international expansion workstreams and report progress to VP of Product and senior leadership.
  • Help establish scalable processes for ongoing regulatory monitoring and product adaptation in live international markets.
  • Serve as a key product voice in external regulatory and partner engagements in relevant regions.

Organizational Contribution

  • Contribute to the methods, frameworks, and playbooks the broader PM team uses to approach market expansion.
  • Mentor PMs working on adjacent international features or regulatory work.
  • Improve team practices, not just apply them.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time spent on internationally-focused products or markets.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating communications regulations across multiple international jurisdictions, including familiarity with regional telecom licensing, data privacy frameworks (such as, AI Cloud Act andGDPR), and consumer protection requirements.
  • Experience working with AI or AI-adjacent products and awareness of evolving AI governance and regulatory landscapes internationally.
  • Track record of contributing to or driving product expansion into new markets from concept through launch.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with Legal and commercial teams.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear product requirements and delivery plans.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and contributing structure where it does not yet exist.

Preferred

  • Background in UCaaS, CPaaS, carrier services, or other large-scale distributed cloud services.
  • Experience with regional communications regulations including emergency services requirements, lawful intercept frameworks, or outage notification obligations across international markets.
  • Familiarity with data residency and sovereignty requirements relevant to cloud communications products.
  • Prior experience at a startup or scale-up operating across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Fluency in one or more languages beyond English is an advantage.

Working Model

This is a flexible position. Candidates based in the UK may work from Alianza's UK office or remotely. Candidates in other international locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The role requires periodic travel to Alianza headquarters in the United States and to key partner or customer sites in region.
