The Role
We are seeking a Compensation Operations Analyst to join our growing SoFi/Galileo Controllership team. These roles are vitally important in supporting our compensation operations, equity and payroll tax governance, and continuous process improvements. What You’ll Do:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly detailed operational processes focused on equity activity (grants, exercises, ESPP), payroll taxes, and general compensation accounts, including preparing related journal entries.
- Gain a working understanding of SoFi systems—specifically how transactions flow between equity administration platforms, payroll systems, and the general ledger—and help secure the best independent support for the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Finance, HR, Equity Administration, and Payroll to assist in researching reconciling items, clearing them in a timely manner, and designing solutions to prevent recurring issues.
- Work to streamline and improve equity and payroll reconciliation processes, identifying opportunities for automation within our reconciliation tools.
- Enhance and document accounting and regulatory processes, narratives, and policies related to equity and payroll operations.
- Prepare complete and easy-to-follow workpapers explaining issues, procedures, and conclusions.
- Provide general accounting and reconciliation support to the broader Controllership team as needed.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports for management, internal and external auditors regarding equity and compensation metrics.
- Perform ad-hoc reports and analyses upon request.
- Work closely with Stock Administration, Payroll, and Treasury departments to ensure that compensation and equity transactions are recorded properly under U.S. GAAP (specifically ASC 718).
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
- Advanced fluency in English (both written and verbal), with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical, and project management skills.
- A forward-thinking and hands-on approach with a strong desire to learn complex compensation operations.
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to think creatively within a flexible, fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and general ledger/reconciliation systems.
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience with equity administration platforms or global payroll systems.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP ASC 718 (Stock Compensation) accounting.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Prior audit experience.
- Prior work experience performing complex reconciliations and using automated reconciliation systems.
