Duties & Responsibilities
Write, refactor, test, and maintain new and existing identity, authentication, and authorization components in .NET / C#.
Actively contribute to architectural and design reviews for core identity services (e.g. token issuance, federation, claims processing, user provisioning).
Design and deliver training, mentoring, and guidance for less-experienced engineers, fostering best practices around identity systems.
Build and enhance internal tools and automation to support release pipelines, monitoring, deployment, feature toggles, and operational diagnostics for identity services.
Continuously improve coding standards, propose new patterns or frameworks, and lead adoption of best practices.
Estimate work, manage priorities, and reliably deliver features and improvements with high quality and minimal rework.
Research, prototype, and validate new identity technologies—e.g. adaptive authentication, AI-driven anomaly detection, identity proofing, credential binding.
Lead the migration of identity services to containerized or cloud-native infrastructures, collaborating with DevOps and infrastructure teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Prefered deep experience in identity & access domain: OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, federation, provisioning, multi-tenant identity systems.
Strong backend skills in .NET / C#, including asynchronous programming, dependency injection, middleware, and performance optimization.
Experience with distributed systems (microservices, scalable services), and familiarity or willingness to work with container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes) and cloud environments.
Understanding of Service Fabric (or prior experience) is a plus, with ability to transition legacy systems.
Competency in building tooling, observability, logging, tracing, metrics around identity services.
Strong architectural mindset: designing for scalability, resiliency, security, maintainability.
Ability to mentor and grow others; good communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams (security, DevOps, product).
Innovative and curious — willing to evaluate AI/ML uses, identity-first security patterns, zero trust concepts, and emerging identity standards (e.g. Verifiable Credentials).
Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills for complex system challenges.
Qualifications
5+ years of software development experience, with substantial experience in backend systems, ideally in identity, security, or authentication domains.
2+ years of work in products or platforms (versus pure project/consulting) or domain-specific experience around identity systems.
Proficiency in C# / .NET, and experience with service / distributed architectures.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience (or a related technical field).
Prior experience migrating services or working with modern deployment paradigms (e.g. containers, microservices) is a strong plus.
Experience with identity or security domain (e.g. integrating OAuth, SAML, user provisioning, directory services) is highly desirable.
