To be a good fit for this particular role, we require that you have:

  • Proven leadership experience managing Agile cross-functional teams with customer-facing web and mobile products.
  • Strong technical background with previous hands-on experience in web, mobile, or platform development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities of the role:

Delivery:

  • You lead your teams to regularly and consistently ship impactful and high-quality features for our customers.
  • You’re an advocate for Scrum and know how to leverage sprint metrics and rituals to build healthy, happy and high-performing teams.
  • You proactively flag risks to delivery and roadmaps, identify mitigations, and negotiate scope with Product to stay on track.

Technical Strategy:

  • You craft a technical roadmap with initiatives that strengthen our solutions and enable us to deliver at a faster clip.
  • You’re intimately familiar with the company strategy and leverage that knowledge to contribute to both team and organizational roadmaps.
  • You define and maintain SLOs and SLIs, and set up dashboards and alerting.

Technical Expertise:

  • You serve as the technical expert to your Product partner early in the product development lifecycle.
  • You regularly review and contribute to technical designs in your team, and larger architectural designs that are led outside your team.
  • You champion best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and performance optimization.

Management:

  • You empower your engineers to do their best work by keeping them unblocked and ensuring they have the support and resources they need.
  • You build a culture of mutual support, honest communication, and accountability within the team.
  • You communicate expectations clearly, provide feedback promptly, and express gratitude generously.
  • You work with your direct reports to ensure they have a roadmap and mentorship to continue growing in their careers.
  • You establish mechanisms to track psychological safety in your teams and have a process to regularly review those metrics and learn from them.

Innovation & Knowledge Sharing:

  • You look for opportunities to improve the way that we work, whether through new tooling, process changes, or architectural shifts.
  • You regularly seek learning opportunities and share your knowledge with your peers, your team, and the company at large.

Collaboration:

  • You work closely with Product and Design throughout the development lifecycle and build a strong rapport with them as their trusted partner in Engineering.
  • You work with Quality and Infrastructure to establish and maintain best practices.
  • You collaborate with engineering managers and engineers within and beyond your team to make cross-cutting architectural decisions and execute on initiatives.
  • You collaborate with stakeholders in Customer Success, Solutions, and Integrations to ensure customer needs are balanced with Product Engineering priorities.
